Privacy policy

Scarred Society Chips is operated by Scarred Society (“we”). Contact: hello@scarredsociety.com (placeholder — to be confirmed before launch).

• Email address — used only to verify you and keep you signed in.
• Story content — the text you choose to add to a chip journey.
• City and country — the place you select. We store that city's centre coordinates, never your device position.
• Display preference — first name, initials or anonymous.
• Access records — which chips you have scanned or contributed to.
• Aggregated product events — privacy-safe counts such as scans and submissions.

We do not collect precise GPS coordinates, legal names, payment details or contact books. We never publish your email address.

Sign-in is passwordless. We email a single-use verification code that expires shortly after it is sent, and is rate limited to prevent abuse.

Stories are visible to people who have physically scanned that chip and verified their email, to people who have contributed to the same chip, and to Scarred Society moderators. Public pages show only counts, cities and countries.

Necessary cookies keep you signed in and cannot be disabled. Optional analytics are privacy-friendly and aggregated. See the cookie policy.

Journey entries are retained for as long as the chip journey exists, because removing a chapter would break the history. Verification codes are deleted shortly after use. Generated manufacturing archives expire automatically.

Stories may be hidden or removed if reported and found to breach our terms. Removed content is never served through public interfaces.

You can download your data, edit your profile, anonymise or remove your story text, and request deletion of your account from your profile page. If you delete your account, the structure of each journey is preserved but your contribution is shown as anonymous.

We use infrastructure providers for hosting, database, storage and transactional email. A full processor list will be published before launch.
